some credit counselors are legit, some are scammers..chooose carefully. bankrupsy is not the end of the world…you can keep your house and car….check into it, also.
Consider that your credit will be no better after you contract a counselor than it will be after bankrupsy. If you dont plan on buying another house within 7 years, i woud go Bankrupsy. Probably cost you about 1000$, but the minute you file..the creditors have to stop calling you.
Maybe, it really depends on the specific person you’re dealing with.
But keep in mind, they wouldn’t exist if they weren’t making money off you.
Absolutely. Contact Consumer Credit Counseling Services, they a nation wide and free, they will work with your creditors to lower your monthly payment as well as your interest rates. I used them several years ago and was debt free in 36-months.
Bankruptcy is a last resort. And under the new laws it’s tough to file a chapter 7. Credit counseling is not near as hard on your credit and doe’s not last as long.
I have found on the net that there are a lot of things about fixing your credit you can buy some good some not. I started to use one of those companies that help with consolidation but, I bought these programs that have worked wonderfully. If you follow their easy instructions you will improve you credit and credit score. They even have the forms or letters you should use to send to the credit bureaus. I even bought the programs for my daughter who filed bankruptcy and she has improved her credit also. They teach you everything, how to increase your fico to reading your report and how to go about cleaning your report. I try to tell everyone about these programs because they are so good. These people know what they are talking about and have done the research and they are patterned after someone who filed bankruptcy and how he fixed his credit and now has even better than he had. I feel I have gotten my moneys worth buying them. The address is http://www.comingbackstrongfinancially dot com.
CCCS can help, but you have to tread carefully since some of them diguise themselves cleverly as being able to help you and instead rip you off. Best way to find a legit one is to find a CCCS that is a non-profit. Check if they are a non-profit and if they can provide proof that they are. If they can’t offer proof or hesitate or delay you, don’t do business with them. One negative is that your creditors may report that you are working with CCCS on your credit report. That can make it difficult to get credit in the short term. But it looks better than a bankruptcy, which is even harder to navigate now under the new laws.
